THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF
***** EDIT to include picture ****
^^^^^^ I rented this movie because of Gerard Butler. Cynde and I had seen him in "P.S. I love You" and we both thought he was very .... uhm..... attractive. He was ruggedly handsome. So - as I always do - I researched a little and put some of his movies on my blockbuster Q. This was the first one I watched and - oh boy! I thought he was hot .... uhm.... attractive in "P.S. I love You"! Of course, he is a little bit younger in this one, with a little longer hair (I'm a sucker for that one!) and has none of the "ruggedness". He has an almost angelic face - ironic for a vampire, isn't it? Sound familiar, though? Hmmmmm...... What is it with us women and vampires? Anyway.... good movie! Classic Dracula story with an unexpected and interesting twist. Not too scary (trust me... I'm a whimp nowadays ... I couldn't watch a true horror movie by myself.)

And now to my main blog - Anybody remember the story of the boy who cried wolf? Thaaaaaaaaaaat's right! A boy cried wolf many, many times, so that people would drop everything, run to him and pay attention to him. But there never really was a wolf. But when one day the wolf actually appeared, nobody believed him and nobody came to help him.On Thursday of last week the National Weather Service, as well as local meteorologists cried "winter storm". We were placed under a winter storm warning lasting from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning - with snowfall predictions of 3 to 5 inches. So everybody began preparing. Schools were cancelled, roads were salted
, the Barry Manilow concert for .... wait for it..... SUNDAY-night was postponed, aaaaaand, of course, a whole s*&t-load of flights were cancelled. Basically every flight to Atlanta from Friday noon on was cancelled (which was partially due to the conditions in Atlanta, as well). And what happened? That's right ..... NOTHING! Well.... it DID start raining right on schedule, but it never got cold enough to snow. Friday evening, finally the snow arrived .... well .... sort of. It snowed, but nothing really stayed on the ground. Even on the cars it was easy to just wipe away with the windshield wipers. But still there were flight cancellations Saturday morning - now more because of aircraft and crews being "out of place" (due to the cancellations the day before). And then we were still trying to catch up on Sunday, where we now had crew delays still from the day before. Crews are only legally allowed to fly a certain number of hours (which is a good thing!) and then they have to rest a certain amount of hours before they can fly again. But with 2 and 3 hour delays nobody, of course, would make their connecting flights. Who can blame the passengers for getting frustrated when there is no apparent reason for "weather" canellations? They also don't have the "know-how" it takes to understand that it is not that easy to "just get a plane" when somebody has "cried wolf". Long story short...... we had 3 hellacious days at work for what? For NOTHING. What do you think will happen next time there is a severe weather warning?
These Southerners are so crazy when it comes to snow. They panic when they see a single snowflake falling to the ground. If we'd shut everything down in Germany everytime there is some snowfall, we wouldn't be able to function. The same with Colorado, for instance - or how about Utah? Anyways......holy schnikies it was COLD this morning - 17F (that's -7C for my German friends!) Bitter cold. I felt like an onion, I was wearing so many layers today!
And now it's weekend! I'm gonna go and sit on my couch and veg! Probably have some Gluehwein to warm up (that's hot spiced wine for you American friends!) - yup.. I think that's what I'm gonna do! Stay warm, peeps!

I like Gerald Butler...good actor, and rather nice looking although not usually what I go for. I've been meaning to see Dracula 2000 for ages, but I am just to lazy to rent it.
Have you seen him in Phantom of the Opera....he's enchanting! Made me fall madly in love with the Phantom...I didn't really care much for the story line before I saw that movie.
And you so right....the south panics so badly every time there is a single flake, it's insane. Ever time there is a "snow event" which means about a dusting of snow, everything closes down and all the news casts are reporting the weather 24/7.
Try to see Mister Yummy Butler in "Attila"!
Proud southerner here...and the way I see it is...if people aren't really comfortable in the snow do we WANT them out on the road? I am going to say no. I'll agree that shutting things down prematurely - before the first flake falls is a little nuts - but once it HAS fallen, probably not so much only because I have experienced first hand the idiocy of people who should NOT be behind a wheel in winter weather.
But I'm really sorry it sent your job into a frenzy. That was a little crazy to cancel all that stuff so quick.
Gerard Butler - definitely watch him in Phantom of the Opera. He made me love the Phantom...I was rooting for her to stay with HIM even though I knew she wouldn't.
I saw him in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Cradle of Life. He was pretty darn hot in that one too.
I hope you had a good 'weekend!' Thanks for that article!!!

Yup, Gerald Butler is a great actor

The first film I saw with Gerard Butler was Dracula 2000, and though the movie itself is not that good, I was totally taken with GB's sexiness. Then I saw Attila, and I was in love !
Each film I saw with Gerard Butler he not only looked different, but he acted different. In fact, in the 2nd Lara Croft film, I didn't even know it was him until I saw the end credits !!
And then I saw him interviewed on the Tonight show, and again, he was totally different, instead of the hulking villain, he was more like Soupy Sales, he was so funny !!!
Of course, my favorite Gerard Butler film was Phantom of the Opera. Finally the world has discovered him. I like that he is different in every film (or was, they are now putting him in films where he is the same). That shows that he can really act. Unlike Tom Cruise, who is the same in every film, that, to me, is not acting.
