  • MOVIES, MOVIES, AND MORE MOVIES

First I have to acknowledge the tragic death of one of Hollywoods most promising young stars - Heath Ledger. I didn't want to say anything at first, because I know it's being beaten to death in the news and I'm sure on a lot of blogs. But I  have to say after the initial phone call from my sis, it has shocked me more than I would have thought. _39907793_ledger203 I first saw Heath Ledger in "A Knight's Tale", and while that is not the most brilliant of all movies ever made, I still enjoyed it. At that point he was just "breaking" out and all the girls were going wild over him - so I didn't. Yes, you read that right. Everytime people are going wild and are flocking towards something, I take a step back. I've always been like that - never wanting to be a part of the "mainstream". Now, I might take note of it and follow this "silently". And if it holds up to the test of time, I will probably come back to it when everybody else has moved on to a new hype. Weird? Sure....... I AM weird. Long story short - I've never become crazed over heath like I have over some other actors, but he's popped up on my radar every once in a while. He's just one of those actors who does pop up in unexpected movie roles, isn't he? And you go watch a movie and you say "hey... I know that guy....." So yes, I'm shocked, stunned and sad that such a young life has ended way too soon. You never heard anything about Heath and drugs, he seemed one of those celebrities that was able to "keep it together". The experts say that suicide by pills is rare in males, also there is no suicide note. Speculations are running wild and the autopsy was as of yet inconclusive. My thoughts are with him, his family, and his little 2 year old daughter. I hope wherever he is, he's found peace.

On to the "Night Listener" which I rented thinking it was something totally different. It is strange seeing Robin Williams in a serious role. But he does very well. The story is based on true events and I must say it is very intrigueing. A lot of twists and turns and I can't really say too much, without giving the story away. Let's just say it is a psychological thriller in the vein of Alfed Hitchcock. A very interesting subject matter and I also enjoyed the featurrette in the extras. A friend of mine recently teased me about me watching those. What can I say - I'm a geek.

And, of course, you know it is Tuesday - my day to go to the movies. I went and saw 27 Dresses. Which I had picked because I wanted a mindless and silly comedy where I didn't have to think. Well, what do you know. Comedy was right. But it is far from mindless or silly. Of course, it has it's moments, but it actually has some "deeprer" moments as well. I'm happy that James Marsden finally seems to have broken out of his "supporting role" curse. Katherine Heigl, btw, is one of those "hype" thingies I talked about above. Because everybody is going crazy over her with Grey's Anatomy and all - I initially stepped back from her. Because of it I have not seen "Knocked Up" yet and, actually, I almost didn't go see this one. It is definitely something for us romantic girls - albeit not as great as "P.S. I love You". Which, incidentally has a very similar scene in it. I don't know which movie stole from whic, but both movies have a kissing scene with the female lead and a potential love interest. When the sparks don't fly they know which way to turn. Hmmmm.... The scenes were so earily similar, it was almost a deja vu! Overall - I liked it, but you can definitely wait for the rental or the $1 theater. (As always.... mine is only $4 - so I don't really care much, as long as I'm entertained. - I'm so lucky!)

  • First.. I feel just awful about Heath. Chris and I both LOVED a Knights Tale, cheesy but one of our favorite movies.. just so cute. I'm SO sad about this.. just awful.

Second... That pic of Alan.. omfg.. Wow.. sigh.

    I miss you! Luv

  • What is this? You goes to ALL of the movies without me now? :P

I had to go and watch movies with people over the weekend at the EXPENSIVE theater (because that's where they go), and pshhhhhh! You saw the 2 more movies that we both said looked good! Poooo.

But thanks for tonight's pass and and all. :P If you gets them for any of those other 2 movies, I shall have to mooch my way along. That is, of course, if you don't has the NEW movie buddy or something. :P

So, here's my thing about Heath Ledger. Everyone was all z0mg about him dying, yet quite a lot of the people that were z0mg really never mentioned him before. Then, all of a sudden, when people found out he died, they were all "he was one of my favorite actors of all time!!!111" Ok, maybe that's true with SOME (and perhaps lots) of the people that said that stuff, but when I've known someone for YEARS and they've never mentioned him once...what the EFF? Why do people feel the need to--I don't know--over dramatize, I suppose is how you'd put it, (?) something that's already bad enough??

  • I loved A Knight's Tale.  I loved Heath Ledger.  It's hard for me to see him overdosing or anything like that because he just seemed to NOT be that type, you know?

    Nice gratuitous Alan Rickman pic!

    Love ya.

  • RYC:  Obsession?  hahahahaha Yes, you can definitely say obsession.  In fact, you could probably call him my Edward.

  • I love that pic of Alan Rickman. Not because I think he's hot - but because he looks like he's having so much fun. I bet he just took 5000 points from Gryffindor.

Angie's Edward...*snicker*...he can be my ANYTHING. I wouldn't mind running off to New York with him. :)

Hope your day is going well!
