WEEKLY PHOTOCHALLENGE
It's been a while since I participated. But one of my 101 "missions" is to post a photochallenge at least once every month. It's going to be hectic the next few months with the move and all. But I'll try. Here is my first one!
The subject for this week is
REALIZATIONS
suggested by SezwickI guess my realization lately is that - "We make plans - God laughs!" You can do all the worrying you want - sometimes you just have to "believe" that everything will be alright. Sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and "believe" that everything will work out the way it's supposed to.I have two versions (well ... actually ... I had four ... but chose two). Which one do you like best?

I keep hoping you, me and others who believer or try to believe the same are right. This world is in a real mess and I can only hope it is all a part of a much greater plan for the good. Without hope, I have nothing much at all. I like the angle of the second image but the clarity of the top one. So, I guess I am not much help at all. Have a good week,
Yep, whatever it is you believe in ,dont stop, like both the pics, i see you have a link to Darmstadt in the side of the page, my girlfriends daughter lives there!

Small world! I am born and raised in Darmstadt.
That's a strange piece. Is it a bookend or just an ornament?
I packed up going to church some years ago now – for a variety of reasons – but still believe. Probably not as strongly as you. I believe in 'God' but i'm not convinced He has a lot to do with our lives. Man has been in control of his destiny for a while – and yes we're making a right hash of it! But we are more than puppets – He gave us that freedom some 2000 years ago.
However, I also believe that many who have a strong faith are guided by that faith. They do what they believe is what He wants. So, as I get older I find myself less phased by situations and prospects – what will be will be and I'll cross my bridges when I get to them.
Sorry. Got carried away there. Good post – it go me thinking.

It's just an ornament.
And see.... that's just the thing. You can take a word like that and everybody automatically thinks it means "believe in God". Hmmmmm .... Just because I used that quote? Can't it mean "believe in yourself", "believe in your stars", "believe in fate", "believe that everything happens for a reason", "believe in the universe" .... see where I'm going with that?
I am more like you in my belief than you think. I do not like organized religion. I do, however, believe in God - to a point. I still think that we chart our own destiny - and not necessarily while we are in our present life. I do believe that everything happens for a reason and that we sometimes don't see that reason until later. Having said that, sometimes I get caught up in my "rational thinking" and try to eliminate all risk before I make a big decision ... and nothing moves forward. Then I have to remind myself that sometimes you have to "take that leap of faith" and "trust that it will work out because this is where I'm supposed to be".
(.... oh ... and yes ... I am in one of those dilemmas right now .... I'll let you know how it works out!)
very nice! : )
Yes, I think you're right about our assumptions – certainly mine. I immediately took that train of thought partly because you introduced 'God' in your quote – that set the topic, and partly because I have been pre-conditioned by the use of the word in my past. I thought of that rather than the sculpture or ornament in its own right which IS the subject really. This is interesting. I wonder, if you had just posted the images without the quote, how many of our thoughts would have turned to God or religion?
I think the setting too is significant. You put it out doors, under the heavens, among God's creation if you will. But what if you'd put it next to a swimming pool (like the ones they race in), or on a running track, or on the shelf in a library? On an operating table, etc, etc
I hope your current dilemma becomes less of one and works out ok for you.
